Music Reflection #31 [27/05/2010]

Today was the last session of music for this year. We were practicing again in groups and did individual scale tests. I did bad, I should practice more. Our group also didn't sound that well. We were not playing at the same tempo and I think we should really practice more. It was disapointing how we sounded today.next i will practice more with my group for the exams.

Today we were reminded to memorize the pentatonic melody for the exam. We were also listening to Mr. Sadrakh and Mr. John when they were lecturing the behavior of Norman and Steven. Next week I will try to memorize more of the melody for music.

Today we practiced in groups and our group didn't sound good. It was really messed up. We need to practice more in order to pass the music practical exams.

Today we review more about major scale and intervals. We did not have instrument class. Next week I will review more.

Today we did the written test on asian music history, intervals and transposing music. I did my best on the test and I think the score is going to turn out well. I though had a bit of trouble during the history part and I don't have enough time to do the transposing the music surely but I finished it.

Today the class was revising for the music test. We got a new worksheet on the Chinese instruments. I will try to memorize it.

We review more about the triads. We also learnt about the triad for the F major scale today. After a long time, we finally had our instrument class again today. Next session I will review more.

We learnt more about the triads. Mr. John also came to teach us more. Today we reviewed more and tried to memorize the triads by heart. Next session, I wil try to memorize the triads.

Today, we learnt more about the triads. We learnt about more of the major triad chords from 1# to 4# scales. Then the session was cut due to earthquake drill.

Today, we learnt more about transposing music scores. Then we transposed a sample melody from C scale to D and A scale. I will practice transposing more.

Music Reflection #18 [18/03/2010]

Today, we transposed the pentatonic melody to the A scale and make the chords also for both the C and A scale. We also practiced in groups. One of the group, Heidy's performed infront of the class.

Music Reflection #17 [15/03/2010]

Today,we continued the assessment for the people who did not do it yet, the woodwind and Hee Jae. Then, after that, we were informed about the next project that we have to perform one of the selected 5 compositions as a group. My composition was selected and my team members are myself, Rafildo, Reza, Garin and Ronaldo. My goal for next week is to complete my MDW and submit it via e-mail to Mr. Hary.

Music Reflection #16 [11/03/2010]

Today, we did our assessment, playing our composition the 32 bar pentatonic melody. The piano group went first, the guitar went second and the violins went last. The woodwind students didn't have time to play this week. I played 2nd after Allysea on the guitar. I did great, because I didnt have that much chance to practice, I was really happy to get an 8. Next week, I will practice more on my fixed guitar.. :]

Today, we were reminded again about updating the blog. The ones who havent practice get to practice performing their pentatonic melody. We didn't have instrument class.

Music Reflection #14 [04/03/2010]

We were given a task to write and complete the 0-7 flat scales. Then, I practiced performing my melody and I think I did pretty good on it. Next week, I have a goal to do it even better then my practice just now.

Music Reflection #13 [01/03/2010]

Today we learnt and review again on the formula of the major scale, but this time in a flat scales. I had trouble understanding how to do and start the major scale, but I tried and I actually got the hang of it by the end of the session.  Next week I should really master the flat scale and understand it maybe a little bit more.

Music Reflection #12 [25/02/2010]

Today we learnt the diatonic melody, which include the natural scale and the major and minor scales. we learnt that the formula for the major scale is 1-1-1/2-1-1-1-1/2. We tried to form the major scales of 0 flats to 6 flats, which are the C , G , D , A , F# , C# major scales. It was hard but I learnt some tricks from Mr. Hary and Mr. John. Next week I will try not to forget on updating my blog again.

Music Reflection #11 [22/02/2010]

Today, we got the scores for the pentatonic melody. I got 8.5 with a lot of my other friends and that was actually the highest score of the class. i was happy with the result though I'm still aiming for better scores in the future. Some of the students got to perform the pentatonic melody with their instruments. Next week, I will get started on studying more on my instument.

Music Reflection #10 [18/02/2010]

Today, we did the assessment on the paper. Creating a pentatonic melody using the format learnt last session. I was happy with my melody, eventhough I'm not sure what score I will get. We gave the paper to Mr. Hary to check and I can't wait to see the score next session. My goal for next session is to practice so that when we have to perform the melody I would be good with it already.

Music Reflection #9 [15/02/2010]

Today, Mr. Hary wisnu was absent because he had an eye problem. The substitue teacher was Mr. Herry Rajasa. We learnt how to make a 32 bar melody easier by using the A, A', B, A' format. Since I'm not a piano student I had to amke a new melody out of this method which makes it a lot easier. It took only about 5 minutes to create the whole melody. My goal for next week is to master the method and use it on the real assessment.

Music Reflection #8 [11/02/2010]

Today I continued on my pentatonic melody and I finished all 32 bars :]
I used again the Javanese pentatonic scale to do the new melody. It turned out pretty well but it took a lot of time to finish it. I achieved my goal from last session to come to class and already have the idea of how the music will sound like. Eventhough I had to struggle, I finished all 32 bars and I'm proud of it. My goal for next session is to once again pay more attention in class.

Music Reflection #7 [08/02/2010]

Today I created my first pentatonic melody using the Javanese pentatonic scale. I did not finish 16 bars and I will do continue it at home. It was pretty hard to do, that is why i did not get it done. It was hard because we had to imagine the melody in our minds because we can't test it in the instrument. but I managed to do 8 bars. Next time I would try to already have a picture in my mind about how the music will sound like.

Today, we learnt about the pentatonic scale and major & minor notes. I was fully paying attention today unlike the last week. I will try to improve on updating my blog.

We were explained about the music booklet that we have to do individually and how we need to make a blog and post our music reflections there. I will try to pay more attention next time because this session I didn't really pay attention.

I sang for the individual singing presentation. I chose the song Sakura the traditional song from Japan that we learnt, Monday, 18 January 2010. I did good on the singing test but my voice wasn't well. I also did the group presentation with my friends. I next time will improve my presentation preparation and time management as well.

Today we made a  plan for our presentation then we present it in front of the class. We then learnt a new song from Philippines titled Bahay Kubo. I will finish my presentation at home.

Today we learnt a new song. The title of the song is Sakura. It's a traditional song from Japan. We sang the song together in class after Mr. Hary Explained how to sing it. We have to and I will memorize the song for next week.
